This section of the Stevenage Horse and Pony Route starts from Kitching Lane, passes under the A1(M) motorway and then turns northwards along the edge of the Recreation Ground. It continues northwards, past the back gardens of some houses before turning northeastwards and leading out onto Symmonds Green Common to reach Symmonds Green Lane. At the time of the 2023 Access Survey (10 Dec 23), the route had a bollard at the junction with Meadway (public road) to prevent wide vehicles, but there was plenty of room for walkers, riders and cyclists.
