This byway starts from Chapmore End (public road) and continues generally southwestwards through a junction with Bengeo Rural 2 bridleway to Sacombe Road (public road). An application had been made to record a footpath between Bengeo 2 BW and the road. There was an objection at the Special Review, and so the path was left off the map. The British Horse Society spotted that this route and part of Bengeo 2 BW were in fact an old road, Gypsy Lane, and so an application was made to record byway rights. The County Council agreed with the application and an order was made in 1995. There was an objection, and so the case had to be considered by an Inspector. He confirmed the order.

HCC reference EH/63. 22 Jun 1995: The Hertfordshire County Council (Bengeo 22) Modification Order 1995 (confirmed 15 Oct 1996) recorded this route on the definitive map and statement as a byway. PINS reference FPS/M1900/7/7.
