Legal History 20 Jun 1953: The route was not recorded on the original definitive map and statement. DM sheet DM3-10 (SP91SW). 31 Dec 1977: The route was shown as a footpath on the special review draft map and statement. DM sheet SR-51 (SP91SW). 18 Aug 2022: The Hertfordshire County Council (Tring Town 83) Modification Order 2022 (confirmed 12 Jan 2023) recorded this route as a restricted byway on the definitive map and statement instead of as a footpath.

Definitive Statement (4 Dec 2015) Path: [Tring Town] 83.  Status: Restricted Byway.  Definitive Map sheet: 51 Donkey Lane - commences from Aylesbury Road (public highway) at SP 9132 1095 then runs NNW, alongside the cemetry for approx 215m to join Beaconsfield Road (public highway) at SP 9126 1116. Width: 30 feet (9.1m) Limitations: None Maintainability This route is maintainable at the public expense because it was a highway before 1835.
