Not currently open to riders. This footpath runs from the junction of Trotters Bottom, Dancers Hill Road and the A1081 generally northeastwards to Dancers Lane which leads to a bridleway underbridge of the M25 motorway. This route is recorded as a footpath, but we would like to get it upgraded to bridleway to save riders coming from the A1 bridleway bridge and Trotters Bottom from having to ride along the busy Dancers Hill Road.

Legal History 1967: The district council applied to the magistrates for an order stopping up the old road reserving footpath rights. As a result, Laurel Lodge Lane became a footpath. 11 Sep 1995: Application to record width - as part of Countryside Commission target project. Hertfordshire County Council reference HTM/71. This path is in South Mimms Parish from May 2008, when the South Mimms Parish was created by SI 2008/43. The path number remains the same. 19 Feb 2018: Secretary of State directed Hertfordshire County Council to determine the application by 28 Feb 2019. PINS reference FPS/M1900/14D/5. 8 Jun 2023: The Hertfordshire County Council (South Mimms 72) Modification Order 2023, confirmed 30 May 2024, recorded the width and lack of lawful limitations in the definitive statement. 21 Aug 2024: Confirmed order advertised.
