This route starts from the junction of Welwyn Road and Thieves Lane (public roads) and continues northwards to Carlton Avenue (public road). It crosses the road and continues generally northwards to Bentley Road (public road) and a junction with Thieves Lane (public road).

At the time of the 2023 Access Survey (4 Jun 23), the route was signposted (footpath) at each end. At two points (see second and fourth photographs) there were bollards which would prevent horse drawn vehicles, but allow horses, cyclists and walkers to pass.

BHS PGBT As part of PGBT's and the British Horse Society's work to record paths before Path Extinguishment Day, it was spotted that this route was an old vehicular highway. The historical evidence showed a continuous route, so an application was made in 2023 to record it as restricted byway.
